7 days – A Week in Tenerife (Canary Islands) by car

Spend a week exploring the beautiful island of Tenerife, known for its perfect weather, pristine beaches and loads of adventure. Visit the natural wonders of Teide National Park, Anaga Natural Park and the ‘Cave of the Winds’, the capital of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the picturesque towns of La Laguna, La Oratava, Puerto de la Cruz and Garachico or spend a day relaxing on the beaches or a even a fun-filled day at Siam waterpark – there is plenty to keep you busy!

route PROGRAMME

Day 1: Tenerife

Arrive at Tenerife South/North airport, gateway to the largest of the Canary Islands, known for its year round great weather and beautiful beaches. Pick up the car and drive to your accommodation.

Day 2: Explore the North East

Visit the picturesque town of La Laguna and wander its cobble-stoned streets before heading to the spectacular mountain ranges of Anaga Natural Park to explore its rainforest by hiking, horseriding or even bicycling.

Relax on the pine-fringed golden beaches of Las Teresitas or visit the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and take a guided tour of the Carnival Museum or indulge in some shopping at El Corte Inglés.

Day 3: Visit the Oratava valley & Teide National Park

Visit one of the prettiest towns in Tenerife, La Oratava, and walk down its narrow streets and admire its unique architecture especially the wooden balconies. Head to Teide National Park, location of Mount Teide, the highest point in Spain, offering a diverse volcanic landscape with pine forests and green valleys. You can either go hiking here, take a cable car up the mountain or just drive through the protected park to admire its beauty.

Day 4: Visit Loro Parque (Puerto de la CRUZ) OR Isla Baja (North West)

OPTION 1: Loro Parque: Visit the beach front city of Puerto de la Cruz to visit the La Oratava Botanical Gardens and the Loro Parque Zoo for some beautiful fauna and flora including the worlds largest collection of parrots at the zoo.

OPTION 2: Isla Baja (North West): Visit the less visited towns of Garachico and Icod de los Vinos that have best preserved the authentic Canarian atmosphere. See the iconic Dragon Tree in Icod de los Vinos and enjoy the Canarian vibe in one its beautiful plazas or walk the cobbled streets of Garachico and take a dip in the natural volcanic rock pools.

You can also visit the Cave of the Winds (La Cueva del Viento) nearby, a natural, volcanic attraction shaped over thousands of years..

Day 5: Explore the South East including Siam Park

Head to Los Cristianos, one of the most popular areas in Tenerife, go shopping on the ‘Golden mile’ and relax on the beaches of Las Vistas & Los Cristianos. Alternatively, to get away from the crowds, vist the tranquil beach of Playa del Duque in Costa Adeje.

Families can also visit the island´s largest and newest water park, Siam Park for a fun day out!

Day 6: Visit Los Gigantes & Masca OR El Médano & Banana Plantation

OPTION 1: Los Gigantes & Masca: Enjoy a whale and dolphin watching trip from Los Gigantes beach, surrounding by 800m cliffs, go kayaking before driving through the beautiful Masca Valley to visit its rural villages.

OPTION 2: El Médano & Banana Plantations: Another off-beat option is to visit El Médano to try out some water sports and sample the gastronomy of the area before visiting a banana plantation loctated around the island.

Day 7: Tenerife

Depart for Tenerife South/North airport, where you can drop off the car and take your flight back home.
