The Primitivo Way from Lugo to Santiago self-guided tour
This part of the Camino de Santiago goes across the second section of the Camino Primitivo (Original Way) Starting from Lugo, a walled city dating back to the Roman times, this section joins the Camino Frances in the lively market town of Melide and finishes in Santiago. A tour in hotels/agroturismo and with luggage transfer included.1st day: Arrival to Lugo We suggest to visit the splendid Roman walls2nd day: Lugo-A Ponte Ferreira (29 km) You leave Lugo through the oldest gate of the city wall,Porta Mina The trail heads to San Roman de Retorta through agricultural areas and woodlands. Meals: Breakfast3rd day: A Ponte Ferreira-Melide (20 km) The route continues through Toques and into the historic town of Melide where the French Way joins the Primitivo Way. Meals: Breakfast 4th day Melide - Arzua (15 km) You will travel along forest tracks which cross many pretty streams, pass the church of Boente and then the historical village of Ribadiso on your way to Arzúa Meals: Breakfast 5th day: Arzúa - Rúa (17.6 Km) Today you will pass through woods and sleepy villages. Visit the chapel of Santa Irene, with its unique statues of Santiago. Accommodation in Rúa. Meals: Breakfast 6th day: Rúa - Santiago de Compostela (18.8 Km) The next stage will be Lavacolla where pilgrims traditionally washed in the river before reaching Santiago. From the "Mount of Joy" you can see your goal - the Cathedral of Santiago! Accommodation in Santiago.
