Day trip to Potes and Santillana del Mar from Santander

Departing early in the morning in front of Santander's Maritime Bay with our bus. Lovers of culture and family plans have a carefree trip ahead of them: three places in Cantabria in ten hours, with enough time to get to know them with an expert guide and to explore them in-depth on your own. On the way to our destination, we'll make a brief stop in Unquera, perfect for breakfast and a bathroom break. Here you can taste the typical sweet of the area, the “corbatas”. This excursion to Potes takes us to the most beautiful inland village in Spain, located in the region of Liébana and listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest. Its scenic beauty will captivate you: its traditional buildings, wooden balconies, cobbled streets and the surrounding mountains give it a very special mediaeval air. After that, you will have some free time to walk around on your own and taste the local gastronomy. Santillana del Mar is our next stop, located between Comillas and Suances. It will take us back to the Middle Ages with its cobbled houses, balconies with flowers, and the coats of arms and shields on the facades. After the guided tour you will have free time to wander around. A few kilometres from Santillana, we will have the opportunity to enter the reproduction of the Altamira Cave, which uses technology to create an experience as close as possible to the original. An educational and entertaining plan for the youngest members of the family! Here they can learn about the history of the Palaeolithic through cave art, open their minds and travel back in time. Finally, we will return to Santander, arriving around 19:00.
