What are the wines like?: Catalonia boasts almost 50,000 hectares of vineyards. With over 35 grape varieties, here you will find red, white and rosé wines along with the sparkling beverage that has brought so much fame to the region: cava. The largest production of this type of wine is to be found in the Penedés District, above all in the town of San Sadurní de Noya, the world capital of cava. In Murcia, it is the wine from Jumilla that stands out, where the Monastrell grape variety is used to produce intense ruby red wines with abundant fruity bouquets. The wines of Alicante are well-balanced, being both fruity yet intensely bitter and spicy. Those from Utiel-Requena usually have fruity bouquets.
