The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid is offering an original exhibition involving how the creations of one of the most famous Spanish designers of all time, Cristóbal Balenciaga, relate to Spanish painting between the 16th and 20th centuries. A must-see exhibition for art and fashion lovers.
The exhibition includes a selection of paintings from the collections of various museums such as the Prado Museum, and the Fine Arts Museums of Seville, Valencia and Bilbao. In addition, there will also be valuable pieces of clothing never before exhibited belonging to the Balenciaga de Guetaria Museum and the Costume Museum in Madrid. It is the perfect occasion to learn how Balenciaga’s designs reflect the simple lines of religious habits, the look of a flamenco dancer’s dress tail, the shimmer of a bullfighter’s costume or the aesthetics of the Habsburgs with black velvety fabrics adorned with jet.
