Long, fully equipped beaches of fine, golden sand, surrounded by pine trees and steeped in history. That is the coast of Huelva, where you can enjoy the sun and sea as well as discovering one of the most important wildlife reserves in all of Europe: the Doñana National Park.

In the south of Spain, on the Costa de la Luz, washed by the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic ocean, you will find the magnificent beaches of Huelva. This marvelous landscape extends along the 120 kilometers of coastline of this Andalusian province, made up of immense sandy beaches, pine forests, dunes and charming fishing ports. Discover the many attractions that await you in this beautiful region which, as well as offering numerous natural spaces of great ecological value, is also steeped in history as it is from here that Christopher Columbus set off on his epic voyage to America. A fabulous mixture that, together with the region's excellent hotels and full range of leisure facilities and services, guarantees that you will enjoy a truly memorable holiday.

Apart from relaxing on its long, quiet beaches, the coast of Huelva has so much more for you to enjoy. You will have a great time strolling around the streets of its small fishing towns, where you can also try some delicious fresh fish, seafood and, of course, the region's famous hams and strawberries. If you come in the summer, it is well worth visiting Punta Umbría, from where you can reach the provincial capital, Huelva, by a most unusual form of transport: "canoes", a service which has been operating on the river since the early 20th century. For those seeking nightlife, Matalascañas is one of the most popular spots.

On this part of the Costa de la Luz, there is plenty available for those who enjoy nature, culture or sport. There are two highly recommended places of great ecologic importance and unrivalled beauty, both designated as Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO: the Odiel Mud Flats and the Doñana National Park, which also has some of the most important areas of dunes in Europe. If you like art or history, there are many interesting places to visit including Palos de la Frontera, from where Columbus set sail and now home to replicas of the three caravels that were built to mark the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America; or the town of Moquer, where you can visit a museum dedicated to Juan Ramón Jiménez, the Nobel prize winner for literature, or the bell tower of Nuestra Señora de Granada Church, also known as the "small giralda tower" due to its striking resemblance to the famous tower in Seville. Those who prefer sport can play golf or all kinds of activities relating to the sea: from sport fishing to sailing, scuba diving or water skiing.

There is no doubt about it, the beaches of Huelva offer all you could possibly need for a truly memorable holiday. Why not come and see for yourself?
