- Beach and dune vegetation, with a substantial community of sea grasses of the class Cakiletea maritimae. The dune chain conserves the communities of embryo and secondary dunes in good condition, behind which there is a maritime pine forest. After the dune chain, the mouth of the Barayo river comprises a valuable complex of sub-halophile communities, including particularly rush and reed beds. The areas of swamp are home to groves of western and marsh alder. The local fauna includes the otter and the oystercatcher.
