There are and range of transport options available to get to Galicia, in northwest Spain. The region forms part of the sightseeing area known as Green Spain.


A-6 motorway Connects Madrid with Lugo (500 kilometres) and A Coruña (590 kilometres). Connects to the A-52 motorway in Benavente which continues on to Ourense (500 kilometres), Vigo (590 kilometres), Santiago de Compostela (605 kilometres) and Pontevedra (615 kilometres). AP – 9 motorway Connects Galicia's coastal towns with cities like Santiago de Compostela. This is the entry route into Portugal. Regular coach services There are coach services to destinations in Spain such as Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Bilbao, and to other European countries like Germany, France, Holland, Portugal and Switzerland.

Santiago Airport Connections: Flights to Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, Bilbao, Canary Islands, Malaga, Seville, Palma and Valencia. International connections to Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Turkey. Location/services: It is 10 kilometres outside the city of Santiago de Compostela. Bus and taxi service. Rates: Bus Single ticket to Santiago de Compostela: around €3. Taxi Surcharge per suitcase or package: around €0.50. Vigo Airport Connections: Flights to Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao. International connection to Paris. Location/services: It is 9 kilometres from the centre of Vigo. Bus and taxi service. Rates: Bus Single ticket to Vigo: around €1.25. Taxi Airport surcharge: around €4. Surcharge per suitcase or package: around €0.50.  


Direct connections to Madrid from the main cities in Galicia. Direct connections to Barcelona from A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Lugo and Ourense. Multiple connections to other cities in Spain and in inland Galicia. International connections with transfer. Renfe Spain Pass: card offering travel around Spain for all non-residents. This system is very practical, as it can be used on all AVE long-distance and mid-distance high-speed trains. The Renfe Spain Pass is valid for one month from the first trip and comes in two formats (Business/Club and Tourist). It can be purchased up to six months in advance, and is available for 4, 5, 8, 10 or 12 journeys. The route begins in Santiago de Compostela and passes through a large part of Green Spain.
