The Guggenheim Bilbao Museum presents an exhibition of contemporary art from China at the time of its greatest recent transformation.
Provocative art that seeks to reflect a reality without ideologies, where the individual, rather than the group, is the protagonist. This is the art that emerged in China between the end of the Cold War and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, coinciding with the beginning of globalisation and China's growing international importance. The exhibition presents works by 71 key artists and groups from the period, whose work reflects and criticises the situation in China and across the globe.
