Aerial view of sailboats in Formentera, Balearic Islands

Are you thinking how much you would like to enjoy the sunshine and the clear waters of a little cove? What if you could enjoy them on board your own boat, or even a hired one? In Spain you can sail all year round, on catamarans, sailboats, motorboats… go for it! Try a life on the waves, or sports like windsurf, diving or waterskiing. Because sailing is a pleasure, so have fun.

You can’t go wrong choosing Spain for a nautical holiday. You’ll find nearly 8,000 kilometres of coast; a pleasant climate, especially from March to October; over 350 marinas, plenty of moorings, and Marine Resorts equipped for you. It’s the dream of any sailor. Don’t hold back - it’s all smooth sailing from here on, because during your stay in Spain, all you’ll have to worry about is sunbathing, diving, and gazing at the scenery from the deck of a boat.

Once you’ve chosen Spain for your sailing holiday, you will have various options. If you have your own boat and the appropriate licence, you can enjoy the experience of captaining it off the coasts of the peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. Can you see yourself on board, basking in the sunshine and gazing at the magnificent coastal views? If you’re travelling in summer, we recommend deciding ahead of time which port you will be based in and booking a mooring. You can refuel and buy supplies at the marinas.

Maybe you dream of sailing, but you don’t have a boat or any nautical experience? Not to worry! All along the Spanish coast there are plenty of companies offering a wide range of charter boats. You can hire sailboats or small motor launches, depending on your licence, or use the services of their own seasoned crew. As for insurance and other required documentation, the charter company will take care of everything. Now you have no excuse for not enjoying the sea, whatever your age or sailing ability.

A world of activities in the sea

Did you think the fun would stop when you land? Nothing could be further from the truth, because Marine Resorts offer all sorts of sports activities. The boldest can try windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing, parasailing, or powerboating. Would you prefer something a little less risky? Try sailing, kayaking, angling, snorkelling or scuba diving. You’ll never forget the beauty of the seabeds of Spain! Don’t worry about equipment, everything is provided for you. There are also introductory courses for beginners.

Which will you pick? The sweeping beaches and sunshine of the Mediterranean and the tranquillity of the Mar Menor? Cantabria’s breezes, so perfect for sailing, and its cliff? The beautiful inlets of the Atlantic coast? Or perhaps the seabeds of the islands, with all their wildlife? In all these places you’ll find full equipped Marine Resorts and lovely towns and villages to visit. Whatever you choose, you’ll find it easy to discover all the beauty of our seas. Take to the waves and begin your voyage, feel the freedom of the experience, because Spain was made for sailors.
