Flora, fauna and crops
The district of Grado is located in the centre-western part of Asturias in a very fertile area with broad flat river plains and abundant pastures on the mountainsides. The Nalón river, the most important river in Asturias, flows through this area. The oceanic-type vegetation in these parts consists of vast forests of chestnut, oak, beech and poplar. The characteristic greenness of the vegetation, and the climate, gives the landscape its distinctive freshness. The fauna includes wild boar, deer, grouse and the occasional brown bear.

Craft products
This area is famous for its work in jet.

Gastronomic products, cakes and pastries
The tocinillos de cielo (a dessert made with syrup and egg yolks) from Grado are renowned.
