GR 107: El Camí dels Bons Homes
El Camí dels Bons Homes is a route that follows the paths that became migratory routes for the Cathars upon their exile from France.
This culture left an important mark, despite being only a small stage in the history of Occitania, over barely three centuries (12th, 13th and 14th). During this time it reached a brief momento of glory to be subsequently persecuted until its disappearance due to the dangerous spread of its doctrine, based more on purer and more simple values of primitive Christianity as opposed to the ostentatious, corrupt and authoritarian Roman Catholic church of the 13th century. Based on the data that history has left behind on both sides of the Pyrenees, it shows an extraordinary landscape, a very attractive tourist route and, particularly, it opens the door for contacts and relations between the people of El Berguedà and l’Ariége, from Catalonia and Occitania. The path is an invitation to learn more about the history of Catharism in these areas and to discover all of the natural corners, monuments and medieval remains to be found in its environment or in the surrounding area.
