Description
For the first time, the exhibition brings together more than 300 of Goya’s drawings from both the Prado Museum’s own holdings and from private and public collections worldwide.
Goya. Drawings. The result of “Only my Strength of Will Remains” is a chronological survey of the artist Goya’s works from the Italian Sketchbook, which the artist produced during a trip to Italy in 1770, to those created in Bordeaux completed between 1924 and Goya’s death (1928) in the French city.In addition, the exhibition offers a modern perspective on the ideas that Goya addressed throughout his life and that recur throughout his work, such as the world of women, bullfighting, war and violence, revealing the ongoing relevance and modernity of his thinking. This exhibition is part of the celebrations for the Prado Museum’s bicentenary, which is thus returning to one of its essential artists, whose works have been present in the picture gallery since its opening in 1819, providing a unique perspective.
