The exhibition highlights the careers of the only two Spanish artists to form part of American Abstract Expressionism, possibly the most important movement in painting in the second half of the 20th century.
Over 60 works give an overview of the stages of development of José Guerrero and Esteban Vicente, revealing what they had in common as artists. Both painters have very strong, individual and well-defined artistic personalities, explaining why their careers have always been discussed separately. However, there are a series of parallels in the art and lives of Guerrero and Vicente which indicate their similarities. The use of colour in their compositions, and the evolution of their work from figurative to abstract, are two examples of their shared elements.
