Festivals in Spain
Party, music, traditions, celebrations outdoors, films... There are many festivals in Spain, all year round and to suit every taste. Here is a wide selection. Take a look at when they are held, and what's on their programmes.
Here are a few suggestions, according to their themes: The most current music is available for young people during the summer. You could go on a festival route along the Mediterranean coast and attend the FIB in Benicassim, the Sónar, and Barcelona Beach, for example. There is a great combination of music, summer and fun, which can be enjoyed all over Spain. What's more, the hottest months are full of theatre, classical music and open-air jazz festivals. The theatre festivals in Mérida and Almagro are a must. If you love film, you probably already know about the famous San Sebastián Film Festival. There are also other international festivals like the ones in Valladolid and Malaga, and horror film festivals in Sitges and San Sebastián. Popular traditions such as flamenco also have their own festivals. The Biennial in Seville, the Jerez Festival and Suma Flamenca in Madrid are good examples. There are also many festivals that recreate the past, like the Middle Ages, with markets, street parades and performances. Spanish food, dance, urban art, magic... there's lots more to be discovered. Choose the one you like best, and enjoy!
