Reasons to visit Spain in 2022: make a note of these events

This year Spain awaits you for many different reasons. All the following destinations are organising events you’re sure to want to visit in 2022. Take note and start packing your case.

  • Second Jacobean Year in Galicia

The Xacobeo, also known as Jacobean Year, Holy Year or Jubilee Year, is only celebrated when the festival of James the Apostle or Santiago (25th July) falls on a Sunday. This happened in 2021 but on this occasion the celebration was postponed by one year. So in 2022 you can expect a whole host of events, including concerts, art exhibitions, conferences, talks. films, educational activities, and so much more. The best way to enjoy it all is to embark on the St James Way (Camino de Santiago), a centuries old pilgrimage route that ends at Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. It’s a complete experience that is spiritual to some, cultural to others and for others it’s a way of finding themselves... It’s a route that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime and which passes through areas of incredible natural beauty in the north of Spain.
