Four magical Minorca sunsets from four of its lighthouses

In Minorca you can experience one of those moments that you will forever remember with a smile: a sunset by the Mediterranean Sea. We'll tell you about four places on the island where sunsets are especially beautiful.

Cap d'Artrutx LighthouseThe lighthouse is about 20 minutes drive south of Ciutadella and it is recognisable by its nautical black and white stripes. On a clear day, you can even see the island of Majorca while enjoying the sunset. There is also a restaurant in the old lighthouse keeper's home.Punta Nati LighthouseJust six kilometres north of Ciutadella, you can find the Punta Nati Lighthouse, surrounded by scenery that many say looks like the surface of the moon. Why? The north wind that tends to blow in this area and which favours a more arid terrain. The lighthouse is reached by crossing a narrow road between two small stone walls. These walls are typical of the island and serve to separate land and protect crops from strong winds. They are the traditional Paret Seca walls. From the lighthouse, you can also see the island of Majorca in the distance.

Cavalleria LighthouseThis is the oldest lighthouse on the island and it is found in the north, close to the area of Fornells and almost an hour's drive from Ciutadella. It is situated 100 metres above sea level and offers spectacular views of the cliffs. If you visit during the day, you can go to the Interpretation Centre for Minorca's lighthouses, which can be found inside.Favaritx LighthouseYou can reach the lighthouse by crossing the S'Albufea des Grau nature reserve from Mahon (the capital of Minorca). This takes about 30 minutes by car. You will find a landscape of black rocks which looks very different to the rest of the island. The lighthouse is characterised by the black spiral that goes around it and is close to several very beautiful coves like Cala Presili.
