Flora, fauna and crops
Beach and dune vegetation, with a substantial community of sea grasses of the class Cakiletea maritimae. The dune chain conserves the communities of embryo and secondary dunes in good condition, behind which there is a maritime pine forest. After the dune chain, the mouth of the Barayo river comprises a valuable complex of sub-halophile communities, including particularly rush and reed beds. The areas of swamp are home to groves of western and marsh alder. The local fauna includes the otter and the oystercatcher.

Craft products
Pottery, clogs and traditional wooden items.

Gastronomic products, cakes and pastries
The typical cuisine is seafood-based: fish stews, grilled seafood platters, sea bass with vegetables, hake cheeks, pepper stuffed with shellfish. Caldeirada (fish stew) and roast lamb. The venera ( typical almond dessert, created in homage to the pilgrims). Curd cheese with honey and stuffed crêpes.
