Peter I's troops (Peter the Cruel) passed through this gateway on their way to conquer the city.

History states that when the troops of Pedro I el Cruel approached Teruel devastating and knocking down everything that come into their path, a traitor judge made a pact and opened one of the entrances of the wall so as not to be tortured.
