This anthology organised by the Prado Museum and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, allows visitors to admire all aspects of the visual universe and the masterful technical skill of Bartolomé Bermejo – one of the most evocative and charming painters of the 15th century.
Bartolomé Bermejo was one of the most fascinating figures in art in the second half of the 15th century. Together with his technical ability to create magical effects and define spectacular ranges of colours, he had a surprising ability to create new interpretations of devotional themes and iconographies. After his death, his work was forgotten about until the end of the 19th century when his most significant works sparked an interest in notable international collectors and forgers of old paintings. This exhibition brings together the largest part of his preserved works for the first time, divided across museums and collections in Spain, Europe and the USA. Several additional activities will also be organised, including educational itineraries, international congress, a series of conferences and a concert.
