Magallanes, Marilyn, Mickey and Fr. Dámaso. 500 Years of Conquistador RockStars

The Glass Palace located in the heart of the Retiro Park in Madrid is hosting this sculpture project by Philippine artist Kidlat Tahimik on the impact of colonialism on the local cultures of his country.

Three large hand-crafted sculptures are on display between the walls of the Glass Palace. It is the work of Tahimik, a multidisciplinary artist who combines his visual installations and literature with his work as a film-maker. As is customary in his works, on this occasion the sculptures have been made together with Philippine artisans to denounce the contamination of local cultures with European and American cultures and to emphasise indigenous resistance.
