The Mapfre Foundation is joining in the celebration of Sorolla's centenary with this exhibition covering the painter's career through the most popular theme in his work: beach scenes. The exhibition uses a carefully chosen selection of works to analyse the development of the concept of summer in Sorolla's painting. It comprises some twenty canvases depicting the beach scenes that made the artist so famous. This journey takes us from his traditional works set at Valencia's Cabañal beach to representations of the summers of the bourgeoisie on the Cantabrian coast, through which visitors will appreciate Sorolla's singular artistic vision - between tradition and modernity - which is reflected in each of the paintings on display.
