Face to Face. Picasso and the Old Masters

Exhibition - Painting
Sevilla

An exhibition placing works by Picasso in dialogue with the great artists of the Golden Age. The exhibition is organised by the Seville Museum of Fine Arts and the Picasso Museum Malaga, which will both host it in turn.

Picasso admired the painting of the 16th and 17th centuries and recognised its role in the disruptions which would define 20th-century Modernism. He would take the original models of these masters and reinterpret them, transforming the traditions of that period.

The exhibition juxtaposes seven works from the Seville Museum of Fine Arts and nine from the Fundación Almine y Bernard Picasso para el Arte (FABA). A rare opportunity to see Picasso in dialogue with El Greco, Francisco Pacheco, Giovanni Battista Caracciolo, Francisco de Zurbarán, Cornelius Norbertir Gijsbrechts, Bernardo Lorente Germán, and Diego Bejarano.
