Exhibition - Ceramics,Sculpture

The Botín Centre in Santander in collaboration with Musée National Picasso-Paris is hosting the first exhibition of its type that explores the influence of Iberian art on the famous artist Picasso Pablo through a selection of over 200 works.

Picasso first discovered Iberian art in 1906 in the oriental antiquities room at the Louvre through some sculptures, such as the Cerro de los Santos (Albacete) and the “Lady of Elche”. From then on it influenced his creations and shaped the artistic language and identity of one of the greatest artists of all time. The exhibition shows works spanning Picasso’s career from the days of Proto-Cubism to his final years. A large number of archaeological items have been gathered for the show to explore the connection and to illustrate the diversity of Iberian art with large-scale stone sculptures, bronze artifacts and painted ceramics.
