The Fundación Mapfre presents a retrospective of the Italian painter Giorgio Morandi, one of the most important artists in the history of recent Italian art.
Still lifes, landscapes and vases of flowers are recurring images in the work of Morandi. His painting often focuses on everyday objects but its harmonious compositions of colours, shapes and volumes are full of poetry. The exhibition includes Self-portrait and Bathers, two of his few paintings of the human form. It is also complemented by a selection of works by contemporary artists in dialogue with the Italian painter, mainly through photography, sculpture, painting and ceramics.
