The first retrospective of the German photographer since his death in 2014 can be seen in the Sabatini building of the Reina Sofía National Art Museum.
Five decades of photographic production define Michael Schmidt as one of the great figures of German post-war photography. His pictures describe the society of his time, mainly in images of cities and the people in them. The show features around 350 portraits, landscapes, still-lifes and city scenes.
