Reflection with Two Children (Self-portrait), 1965. Lucian Freud.

Exhibition: Lucian Freud. New Perspectives

Exhibition - Painting
Madrid

Inclusive, subversive and improper. This could be a definition of Lucian Freud's work and his great interest in representing the human body and, specifically, “the contemporary man”. The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum is hosting this temporary exhibition of the British painter, considered one of the most relevant artists of the 20th century.

Freud was born in 1922 and until 2011, the year of his death, he produced hundreds of works with amazing references to other masters such as Velázquez, Rembrandt, Rodin and Cézanne. However, despite these links, Freud always wanted to show his independence and did everything possible to “intensify” the reality reflected in his paintings. The exhibition is divided into several chronological sections following the painter's development: Becoming Freud, Early Portraitss, Intimacy, Power, The Studio and Flesh.
