The Prado Museum in Madrid is presenting the first exhibition in Spain devoted to examining the copies and versions of the Mona Lisa made in Leonardo da Vinci´s studio during his lifetime and authorised by himself.
The exhibition is structured around the copy of the Mona Lisa conserved at the Prado Museum and all the information provided by technical imaging. Despite being a copy, its importance is evident and today the work forms part of most of the catalogues and research on Leonardo da Vinci and his collaborators. The museum now offers an in-depth focus on these types of copies, supported by the most recent analyses on the drawings, agreements and pictorial technique of the master and his closest circle.
