The legend of the Samurai warriors, the persuasion of the geishas, the eroticism of shunga prints, the birth of ukiyo-e… The exhibition reveals Japanese life from the Edo period (1603-1868) to the 20th century.
CentroCentro brings a careful selection of Japanese art to Madrid, including such prestigious artists as Hiroshige, Utamaro, Hokusai, and Kuniyoshi, with special attention to ukiyo-e prints - “pictures of the floating world”. A total of over 200 items, including prints, fans, samurai armour, kimonos and photographs. The pieces on show belong to two important collectors of Japanese art: Pietro Gobbi and Enzo Bartolone.
