Guido Reni

Exhibition - Painting
Madrid

The Prado Museum presents this retrospective exhibition on the great 17th-century Bolognese artist who decisively contributed to shaping the aesthetic universe of the European Baroque. This ambitious exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of Guido Reni's career, bringing together almost one hundred works from museums, institutions and collections, both public and private, across Europe and America. Visitors will have the opportunity to take in some of the artist's most important creations, which are rarely exhibited outside their usual location. This is the case, for example, of the imposing “Triumph of Job” from the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris; “The Immaculate Conception” from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; or “The Union of Drawing and Colour” from the Louvre Museum in Paris, among other works. In addition to these masterpieces, visitors can also see Reni's paintings from the Prado Museum's own inventory. Many have been restored specifically for the occasion, including “Hippomenes and Atalanta”, “Girl with a Rose” or “Saint Sebastian”.
