“We can make the fantastic real, and then it is more real than that which actually exists.” This was a phrase by Salvador Dalí, a master of surrealism, and the starting point for this exhibition, which explores the relationship between surrealist art and the design of objects for everyday use.
Gae Aulenti, Björk, Claude Cahun, Achille Castiglioni, Giorgio de Chirico, Le Corbusier, Salvador Dalí, Isamu Noguchi and Meret Oppenheim are some of the artists represented in this exhibition, which displays paintings, posters, photographs, books and films together with outstanding design pieces from the last hundred years. They reflect the mutual influence between surrealist art and design, combining creativity and fantasy in their creations.
