Las chorreras route Sierra Nevada

This route begins in Borreguiles and heads towards the Prados del Piornal, leaving behind the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and diving into the National Park that serves as the divide between the municipalities of Monachil and Dílar. Once you reach the Dílar River basin (the river begins its journey at Lagunillas de la Virgen, at an altitude of 3000 m), you can observe the wet pastures that are known as “borreguiles” (the Spanish for sheep grazing pastures). These meadows cover large areas of the river banks and are home to a wide range of vegetation as well as being the habitat of a large part of Sierra Nevada species, including the renowned plantago nivalis plant. It is also highly likely that you will come across Iberian ibexes (capra pyrenaica hispanica). At its end, the route once again enters the Natural Park, with its end point coinciding with the Laguna and Dílar chair lift areas. Low dicficulty. mínimum four people.
