Great Guadarramian Trekking.
Few mountains exist in the world that can boast of the important historical burden that the Sierra de Guadarrama has, judging by the innumerable historical events have left their mark on its valleys, hillsides and peaks throughout history.
The trekking that we offer here is carefully designed to tour the rich and varied mountain ecosystems, under strict scientific criteria and respectful of nature. From its western end on Mount Abantos, to its confines in the Carpetanos Mountains, passing through the famous Long Rope, we will travel 90 km along the mountain range, divided into six days, without forgetting its great peaks (Peñalara, Cabeza of Iron ...) or the scenarios of the historical episodes that left their mark on these mountains (Napoleonic Wars, Civil War ...).
We started the trekking in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, place chosen by the almighty King Felipe II to build in the sixteenth century the Monastery of El Escorial, a colossal building that symbolizes the importance that Spain had at that moment in history. We will cross the Rope of Cuelgamuros around the Valley of the Fallen ones, following the Historical Fence of Felipe II. We will cross the Valle de Enmedio (Peguerinos), visit the Valiente Cave, and tour the main stages of the Spanish Civil War going up to Líjar Head.
We will cross the Alto del León and climb La Peñota through the Peña del Arcipreste de Hita. We will cross the Fuenfría Valley visiting interesting places such as the Puente de los Descalzos, or the Ducha de los Alemanes. We will cross part of the Long Rope up to the Cabeza de Hierro Mayor, second highest summit of the Sierra de Guadarrama. We will descend to the Valley of El Paular crossing the dense Pinar de los Belgas and climb the Puerto del Rebentón to start a spectacular journey through the Peñalara Massif.
