Get started in Ornithology in a funny way and discover Oropesa ´s cultural heritage. Discover the birds participating in their conservation; visit the Castle (centuries XII- XV) and the old San Juan Hospital (century XVI), which has become the raptors interpretation center supported by the Eagle´s Foundation, whose aim is to promote direct research and actions for the benefit of the Eagles, the human and the environment that both share.
It´s a funny and original way of knowing the local endangered fauna participating in its conservation through a unique tour in Oropesa.
A different way of discovering the medieval village and its Castle, the ancestral relationship between human beings and eagles, and taste the local products of the ASPB (area of special protection for birds) LLanuras de Oropesa, Lagartera and Calera y Chozas.
The tour starts with the arrival to Oropesa where you will be received at the Interpretation Center “ el Corazón del Águila “ ( Eagles Heart “) by it´s guide , who will tell you stories and legends about eagles through a unique exhibition located in this historical building.
We will introduce you to the Iberian Imperial Eagles reproduction in captivity programme through a videoshow of the world ´s first Iberian imperial eagle born in captivity.
You will have the chance of making a bird census provided with binoculars and telescopes (storks, kestrels and other urban bird species) from a privileged vantage: Oropesa´s Castle towers, where the landscapes of the area of special protection for birds (ASPB Llanos de Oropesa, Lagartera and Calera y Chozas) and of the Place of Community Interest (PCI Tiétar Valley) will be interpreted.
Back to the Center “ El corazón del Águila “, they will provide hand manufactured sheep Cheese , wine from La Mancha and traditional bread tasting.
