Ara River, last wild river of the Pyrénées and horses
Ara River is the last big river of the Pyrénées that has not been artificially modified. That is why it is said to be the last wild river.
It begins on the south side of the Vignemale massif, which peaks at 3,298m between glaciers. Then it joins Arazas River, which crosses the Ordesa Valley carved by glaciers. Its high pond is on the borders of Ordesa National Park and Monte Perdido. Its high valley is the perfect example of a glacial valley. A dam was supposed to be built at the beginning of the long canyon of Jánovas. We will pass through this village with a sad past, but with a certain future.
