GR 21:Ignaciana Route
1991 saw the inauguration of this stretch joining Pamplona with Azpeitia, home to the birthplace of the Loyola family.
Ignacio de Loyola was a great walker (he called himself the pilgrim in his autobiography). The route traces one of his crossings, perhaps the most painful of all, when he was injured in the capital city of Navarra by the French and this represents the journey he had to make home to the family house in the Valley of Loyola. This path joins other GRs such as: GR 121, Guipúzcoa Round Trip,GR 65.2, Santiago Path inland, GR 34, Donostia-Arantzazu Route,GR 35, Coastal Herding Pathand GR 120, the Route of the Three Temples.
