Aragón

The region of Aragon in northeast Spain, comprising the provinces of Teruel, Zaragoza and Huesca, has everything to guarantee fun for visitors of all ages. And that's because it has seven amusement parks with a range of varied themes to suit all tastes. Many of them are located in attractive natural settings. Come and pay a visit to your favourites:

Parks in Teruel:

- Dinópolis: this is a genuine dinosaur-themed paleontological park where you’ll find original fossils and spectacular reproductions of these creatures, go on a journey through time accompanied by the voice of a narrator, and watch films in 3-D. The park’s centre is in the city of Teruel, and it also includes another five museums located in Peñarroya de Tastavins, Galve, Albarracín, Castellote and Rubielos de Mora.

-- Escucha mining museum: you’ll be able to see the inside of a genuine restored mine and the real machinery used to work there until recently. On the tour, which lasts about an hour and a half, you’ll get kitted out like an authentic miner in a hat with a lamp, food pouch and self-rescue kit, and go down in the mine cart to a depth of about 200 metres. You’ll find the village of Escucha about 60 km from the city of Teruel.

Parks in Zaragoza:

- Zaragoza amusement park: just a few minutes from the city centre, this is the ideal place to spend a fun day making the most of over 30 state-of-the-art attractions.

- Monasterio de Piedra : this nature reserve has waterfalls, grottoes and lakes to explore, a flight display by birds of prey, and an exhibition on the history of chocolate. To get there, head for the village of Nuévalos, a little over 100 km from the city of Zaragoza.

Parks in Huesca:

-Pirenarium : this leisure park contains a model of over 100 metres long and a park-garden set in an area of three hectares featuring representations of monumental and natural sites including valleys, lakes and gorges. Don’t miss the themed cinema showing images of the Pyrenees, and the interactive tours. It is located in the town of Sabiñánigo, about 50 km from the city of Huesca.

-Lacuniacha : this biopark in Piedrafita de Jaca, about 70 kilometres from the city of Huesca, is set in 30 hectares in the Pyrenean mountains (in the Tena valley) and offers the chance to glimpse wild animals roaming freely, including mountain goats, European bison, northern lynx, reindeer and wolves, as well as over 20 botanical species. The park can be explored on foot in between two and three hours.

-San Juan de la Peña: a chance to explore the outstanding historic and artistic heritage of this village located about 90 kilometres from the city of Huesca. Highlights include the old monastery of San Juan de la Peña, a veritable treasure of the medieval age. Two visitor centres offer information on the valuable cultural heritage of this destination.
