The region of El Serrablo is located around the top valley of the River Gállego and its tributaries, with Sabiñánigo as its capital and most important town.

This area is of great interest not only for its doubtless wealth of nature and landscapes but also for the large amount and unique value of its almost forty medieval churches (Mozarab and Romanesque) and its rural heritage (villages, fields, paths) that was witness to lifestyles perfectly adapted to the natural environment that progress (not always well understood) has led into misuse. On its way from Biescas to Nocito, the GR16 crosses the entire region of El Serrablo from north to south. The unique churches (there are no similar examples outside this region of Alto Aragon) and the many unfortunately uninhabited villages, together with the beautiful Pyrenees countryside, make this path a must. A complete network of signposted paths (17 PR and a stretch of the GR 15, Pre-Pyrenees path) add to the GR 16, covering all of the region of El Serrablo. In total, 20 stages cover the entire network.
