Paredes de Nava

Paredes de Nava lies in the heart of the region of Tierra de Campos in Palencia, and is fanous for being the birthplace of several illustrious figures, including the poet Jorge Manrique (15th century) and the artists Alonso and Pedro Berruguete (15th-16th century). The treasures to be found in its historic quarter include the church of Santa Eulalia and the Parish Museum, which were both declared a Historic-Artistic monument in 1981. The church stands opposite the Plaza de España square and was built between the 13th and 16th centuries, thus showing clear evidence of fusion between the Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance styles. On the outside of the building there is a unique Romanesque tower, crowned with a pyramidal spire covered in decorative tiles. Highlights on the interior include particularly the main altarpiece by Pedro Berruguete. The Parish Museum of Santa Eulalia is located on the church premises and is considered one of the most important in Castile-León. Its rooms contain a valuable collection of paintings and sculptures by Castilian artists from the 15th to 17th centuries, in addition to several works from the Spanish-Flemish school, and range of ornamental gold items.
