Spanish Tourism Office based in Guangzhou arrives Hong Kong
On 14th December 2009, the Tourism Office of the Consulate General of Spain based in Guangzhou commenced its operation. After Beijing this is the second Tourism office of Spain in China, demonstrating Spain considers China as one of the top priority working partners in the international relations, and therefore, would maintain a closer connection for a long term development between the two countries sharing similarities in many aspects. Spain also showed her commitment towards the Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau market. This expansion aims to create the brand image for Spanish Tourism for the long term. The office is also positioning itself as a strategic partner for China’s travel operators who are keen to develop Spanish tourism products.
For the individual traveler, the office becomes an ideal place for acquiring travel guidance and information about our fascinating country. This year, Tourism Spain Office will continue to develop a series of “I Need Spain” promotional campaigns for attracting more tourists from Hong Kong and Macau to visit Spain.
“The First Market Visit Tour to Spain for the Tourism Industry Elites of Guangdong” Completed
To strongly develop Guangdong Province’s outbound travelling market for Spain, Tourism Office of the Consul General of Spain in Guangzhou organized “The First Market Visit Tour to Spain for the Tourism Industry Elites of Guangdong” which was completed in May 2010. This twelve-day market visit journey covered Madrid, Segovia, Malaga, Ronda, Seville, Granada and Cordoba. Participating guests experienced the romance of Spain’s luxe and lifestyle, visited Spain’s world’s famous cultural heritage sites including three world heritage cities declared by UNESCO, historic castles and charismatic small towns, as well as shopping in Spanish top fashion brands, savoring Spanish gourmet and fine wines while enjoying the relaxing lifestyle of Spain. This is the first time for Tourism Office of Spain in Guangzhou to organize and invite major mainstream travel operators to this market visit, in order to provide them with all rounded orientation for the travelling routes and to offer better support to the industry. This has enabled them to create tour products that best suit the requirements of Southern China travelers.
Spain Participated in the Guangzhou International Tourism Fair (GITF)
The 18th Guangzhou International Tourism Fair took place at Guangzhou Jinhan Exhibition Centre from 25th - 27th March, 2010. The theme of the Spanish exhibition was Spanish Festivals and Cultural Heritage. Mr. David Ferran Priestley, Director of the Spanish tourism, attended the fair and met with industry affiliates to exchange ideas, where he also gathered with media and explored business opportunities. In order to offer the Guangzhou citizen a deeper understanding of tourism of Spain, the Office specially created a total Spanish travelling experience for the audience, featuring the first collaboration among Catalan Tourist Board, Madrid International, Pegasus Group China and Easy Tour.
Spain Participated in ITE & MICE
The 24th ITE & MICE was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during 10th to 13th June, 2010. The Tourism Office of the Consulate General of Spain in Guangzhou highly regarded this grand event. Mr. David Ferran, Director of The Spanish tourism office attended the exhibition, where he exchanged ideas with the industry affiliates, met with media and explored business opportunities, while introducing the new travelling routes of Spain to the professional audience which deepened the understanding and knowledge of Hong Kong and international visitors towards Spanish tourism.
8th August Football Feast at National Stadium, Beijing: F.C. Barcelona 3-0 Beijing Guoan
Celebrating the second anniversary of the Beijing Olympics, a date between the two football teams, F.C. Barcelona and Beijing Guoan was set in 2010. Barcelona, the champion of Spanish la Liga possesses half of the Spanish national team with stars such as Lionel Messi, and Beijing Guoan, the former Champion of Chinese Football Association Super League, presented a festive football evening with an impressive match between the two sides.
The famous Barcelona set a historic splendid by winning six major championships in 2009 including Spain-His Majesty King Juan Carlos I's Cup, Spanish championship La Liga, UEFA Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup. Stars shining in the team are Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic (two of the world’s highest value football stars nowadays), Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, David Villa… who made Barcelona much more popular among the football fans all over the world.
