Skiing in summer in Madrid Snow Zone

In Madrid, you can ski at the height of summer thanks to the Madrid Snowzone snow park. This is the only indoor slope in Spain and is located inside a shopping and leisure centre which makes an ideal option for spending an unforgettable day with guaranteed fun for the whole family.

Xanadu Snow Zone, the only indoor ski resort in Spain, has transformed the small town of Arroyomolinos, located only 23 km outside Madrid, into an attractive leisure centre and obligatory destination for ski lovers. Its modern facilities and the wide range of activities and services on offer allow both children and grown-ups to enjoy the snow without having to head for the mountains, as well as providing the chance to enjoy a meal or snack in a variety of eating places and to go shopping in its numerous shops.

The ski resort is located one of Europe’s largest shopping and leisure centres, protected for the vagaries of the weather and always kept at a constant temperature of minus two degrees. There are three ski-runs available to skiers where they can practice their favourite sport: one, 250 metres long for experts, another less steep for beginners, and a third one for snowboards and for jumps and acrobatics.

The venue also has a tubing attraction with a snow slide which is descended on inflated rings, while younger visitors have their own children's park where they can play safely under supervision while the rest of the family is skiing.

The resort, the only indoor ski slope in Spain, is perfectly equipped with a four-seater chair lift, drag lifts for beginners and a ski lift. It also has an equipment rental service, and a snowboard and ski school with qualified teachers from the official Spanish Ski School.

Shopping and restaurants

There is a cafeteria at the bottom of the slopes where you can have a snack to recharge your batteries, still in your ski gear. But if you’d rather sample some other gastronomic specialities, there is also a restaurant with large windows so diners can eat while overlooking the scenes on the slopes. By night, the restaurant is transformed into a club, making the Snow Park the perfect place for dancing and having fun while skiing to the beat of the music. There is also another restaurant with a more intimate atmosphere for more special occasions, where diners can relax beside a cosy fireplace.

And to round off a fun day of skiing, without having to take the car or leave the premises, you can also see the latest films, do a little shopping for clothes, shoes, toys or food, as well as go bowling or go-kart racing. This is definitely a fun and entertaining day out for the whole family.
