This great cultural centre is the first work by the architect Oscar Niemeyer in Spain.

It is situated in the Aviles estuary, five minutes from the town's historic centre on foot. Its wide cultural programme with international activities includes exhibitions, plays, dances, films, concerts, conferences and gastronomic activities. The centre has different architectural spaces that stand out because of their design and functionality: the Auditorium, with a stage that can open out towards the square in the centre; the Dome, used for exhibitions; the Tower-Viewpoint, 20 metres high, with a restaurant that overlooks the whole city; and the Multi-purpose Building, which has a cinema, meeting and conference rooms, and the visitor reception centre.
