Here's what we suggest: relax on board one of the best tourist trains in the world. Sounds good, doesn't it? And wouldn't it be great to travel for eight days and seven nights through the mountains, valleys, cliffs and beaches of Green Spain? This is the route of the Transcantábrico, a real "cruise on rails".

From Santiago de Compostela (Galicia) to León (Castile-León), or vice versa, through the most beautiful spots in Green Spain, in the north. This is the route the Transcantábrico follows during eight days and seven nights. Why don't you try it? You will be able to travel through green valleys, mountains and practically touch the waves of the Cantabrian Sea. Because the Transcantábrico is a narrow-gauge train, it can travel through the most beautiful natural spots. Castile-León, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia await you.

Leave your watch at home and get ready to look through the train windows and stop at unique destinations. Would you like to know a few of them? León and its cathedral, the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, the coastal city of Santander, the Altamira Caves in Santillana del Mar, the Picos de Europa National Park in Asturias, the pre-Romanesque monuments in Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. Many of these places have the UNESCO World Heritage designation. However, the list of places to visit is much longer and the best way to discover them is taking a trip on the Transcantábrico. And also, for your comfort, you will have a multilingual guide throughout the whole route, and a bus will take you to each place and back to the train.

Fully-equipped cars:

As well as the organised visits, one of the things that you will most enjoy on this trip is the actual train. A train with equipment that has been meticulously designed for your comfort. Imagine a team of professionals at your service, international daily press, large suites fitted with their own bathroom, hydrosauna, turbo massage and steam bath... And if you also want to have fun, don't miss the elegant cars with a bar-lounge and a dance floor, or more peaceful spaces where you can watch a film or play boardgames with your partner. And best of all: large windows so you don't miss any panoramic views.

The best gastronomy

The Transcantábrico is an invitation to nature, culture, and of course, good food. During your journey you will be able to enjoy delicious buffet breakfasts in the lounge cars. But the best part comes later: the Transcantábrico invites you to eat and have dinner in some of the best restaurants in the regions in which it travels. Real tasting centres where you will be able to try the most delicious and typical dishes in northern Spain, always washed down with good wine.

Although the normal train season is from March to November, if you wish travel any other time of the year, the Transcantábrico can design a tailor-made trip, if you request it in advance.

Now's the moment to treat yourself on board this luxury train. You will share landscapes, flavours, monuments and sensations that will be etched in your memory. Get carried away by the charm of this train and by some of the sceneries that you have always dreamt of visiting. Because when you see the nature of Green Spain right out your train window, you will understand why travelling on the Transcantábrico is a real pleasure.
