How to get to Galicia
- Автономное сообщество:
There are various transport options available to get to Galicia, in northwestern Spain.
Galicia has three international airports: Santiago airport, A Coruña airport and Vigo airport, which are very close to some of Galicia's main tourist destinations. Just 10 kilometres from Santiago de Compostela you will find Santiago airport, with flights operated by Air Europa, Air-Berlin, Iberia, Ryanair, Spanair and Vueling. A Coruña airport is 8 kilometres from the city of A Coruña and offers services by Portugalia, Easyjet, Iberia and Spanair. Meanwhile, Vigo airport is 9 kilometres from the town of Vigo, where Air France, Air Europa, Iberia and Spanair operate.
There are daily services from the Spanish capital, Madrid, to the main cities of Galicia. The journey takes roughly 6-8 hours, depending on your destination.
From Madrid, take the A-6 (Autovía del Noroeste) motorway to Lugo (500 kilometres) and A Coruña (592 kilometres). To get to Ourense (501 kilometres) and Vigo (592 kilometres), take the A-6, and when you get to Benavente, in the province of Zamora, join the A-52 (Autovía de las Rías Baixas) motorway. Once in Galicia, the AP-9 motorway and the N-550 road lead to Pontevedra and Santiago de Compostela. The AP-9 is also the access route to this region from Portugal.
