Carpets of flowers adorn the main streets of this town in the province of Barcelona.

Sitges , just 35 kilometres from Barcelona, is filled with colour and the aroma of flowers during the celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi in spring. The highlight of the festivity takes place on the feast day itself, when the local residents create carpets of petals from carnations and other flowers. A jury awards prizes to the best carpets, all made with exquisite taste and devotion. Later, the procession of the Holy Sacrament passes over these works of art that adorn the main streets in Sitges. The Corpus Christi festivities also include other activities such as the National Carnation Exhibition, the Bonsai Exhibition, the Floral Decoration of Façades and Balconies Competition, and the Giants Parades.
