The Plasencia International Folk Festival has been held annually since 1996 in this town in the province of Cáceres.

The event takes place every summer and showcases the latest trends in national and international folk music. Most of the concerts are held in the Plaza Mayor (main square), although a few also take place at the Torre Lucía Tower. The festival includes a seminar on ethnomusicology or the anthropology of music. This comprises a series of talks on themes related to folk music, such as traditional instrument making.
