Calella, the tourist capital of Costa del Maresme, has countless terraces, restaurants, and a bustling nightlife, which along with the beaches, constitute an attractive choice for anyone. Calella's city centre stretches for three kilometres, between the golden beaches of the Mediterranean and the last spurs of Montnegre. This exceptional location makes it a first-class coastal destination, recognised in many occasions with the European quality award: the Blue Flag. The most varied water sports and outdoor activities are available here, thanks to the mild climate that this region enjoys all year round, and the excellent facilities at the Sailing Club. Terraces and restaurants on the seafront will delight us with the best dishes of Catalan cuisine. The old part of town is distributed around the church of Santa María, a Neoclassical building with a Baroque main front. A journey through its artistic heritage may continue with a visit to the House of Salvador (14th century), the Sivilla House (16th century), and the chapel of San Quirze and Santa Julita. The old Llobet-Guri Factory and the Municipal Market are also important monuments that the visitor should not miss. In addition, Dalmau Park is a pleasant spot where we can rest and enjoy a different side of the city. Numerous pedestrian streets invite a walk around the historic quarter, and the promenade shows Calella's Mediterranean waterfront, leading the visitor into the area of the lighthouse. This seafaring building, which has become an emblem of the city, rises above a promontory that dominates the whole coastline. Also nearby we find ancient turrets used for optical telegraphy, which used to line the entire coastline long ago.
