The village of Javier is to the east of the castle where San Francisco de Javier was born in the 16th century. Today's small village centre was built in 1960, to house residents living in the old buildings alongside the castle, which were then demolished. There is a modern bronze sculpture by artist Francisco Aizcorbe in front of the village Hall.

Besides the castle, the village has other points of interest, such as the 18th century Anunciación parish church, home to the font where Francisco de Javier was baptised. Above the church's altar there is a Romanesque image of the Virgin Mary. Close to Javier, on the banks of the Aragón River, you will find the ruins of a medieval mill. It is also worth heading up to El Castelar, the highest point of the village, with stunning views of the whole region.
