Castles of legend

Come and recreate history in the inland regions of Spain by visiting its numerous castles and fortresses. Castile-León

Castile-León is the land of castles. There are imposing castles which recall the one in Walt Disney's fairytales, like the Segovia Alcázar ... and there are castles which house museums, like the Wine Museum in Peñafiel Castle .

Just to give you an idea of the size of these monuments, we suggest a visit to the Castle of the Knights Templar in León , the castle of Ampudia and the castle of Los Sarmiento in the province of Palencia , the Alcázar in Segovia and Coca Castle (both in the province of Segovia ), Peñafiel and La Mota in the province of Valladolid and the castle of Zamora .

Dramatised visits

These are available in the castles of Cuéllar , in Segovia, and in the castle of La Mota, in Valladolid. You will be welcomed at the fortress by actors who will invite you to witness the history of their characters in the castle itself. This is an ideal and entertaining way of visiting and exploring the monument.

Advance booking is recommended for the dramatised visits.
Dramatised visits are particularly recommended for families with children, and although they are usually in Spanish, they offer a fun way to see the spaces in the fortresses, even for those with a limited grasp of the language. You may even pick up a little Spanish!
We recommend spending the night in some of the castles along the way. For example, you could do so in Magalia Castle (Avila), Castilnovo Castle (Segovia), or in any of the castles which are today the site of Parador hotels, such as the fortress of Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca) and the Torre del Caracol tower (Zamora).
