León by night

If you’re looking for lively nightlife you’ll find it on a trip to León, a friendly city with a bustling university atmosphere. You can start with the traditional custom of having dinner by going from one bar to another sampling the tapas (typical local products served with your drink), accompanied by a glass of good wine. Then you’re bound to feel like dancing until dawn.

The typical area for going out, and the place to meet if you’re joining a group of friends, is the Barrio Húmedo (San Martín square and the surrounding area), in the heart of the historic centre and very near the Cathedral. You’ll be amazed at the number of typical bars and restaurants you’ll be able to find in just a few metres. This is the place to sample, for example, the famous morcilla (black pudding) from León with country bread and a chato (small glass of wine) in the traditional chunky glass.

As midnight draws near –and particularly from Thursday to Saturday– the party atmosphere warms up in the city’s numerous and varied clubs. And whatever your taste –salsa, pop, rock or heavy metal– you’ll find it all here in this area.
